From NGO Conference to MDG Summit

There are only 5 years until the 2015 deadline to achieve the Millennium Development Goals.

With the 63rd Annual UN DPI/NGO Conference finished,  focus turned to the MDG Summit, a high level meeting in New York (20 Р22 September) where the Secretary General of the United Nations challenged the governments of the world to recommit to halving poverty by 2015.

Negotiations and discussions took place in the weeks and months around. You can read a copy of the Outcomes document from the Summit, agreed upon by world leaders.

It is hoped that the Declaration from the 63rd Annual UN DPI/NGO Conference Advance Global Health, Achieve the Millennium Development Goals will channel the voices of NGOs and influence the outcome of the New York MDG Summit.

Our team is in New York to cover the Summit. As always, this website will provide you with information from the discussions and negotiations. You can also view the official website for the MDG Summit and follow us on Twitter and Facebook.
