Unprecedented monsoon rains commenced Thursday 29 July, with flooding affecting northern Pakistan, building over the next three days. Flood waters made their way south in the first week of August. Additional rains over the following weeks, causing rivers to breach, have added to the impact in southern Pakistan, mainly Sindh and Punjab provinces.
